On August 26th, 1989, a group of Doctor Who fans belonging to a local college-based club formed a private, non-profit organization. At the time, Doctor Who was only available to Americans via public television sometimes at odd hours of the day. Interests in other science fiction programs along with comedy programs helped ensure growth and variety at meetings. When the run of the "classic" series came to an end in 1989, Doctor Who fans were challenged to keep interests alive. Encouraged by the continual broadcasts of all available Doctor Who episodes and eventual release on video/DVD, our club met this challenge creatively in the form of fanzines, a fan video production, a Monty Python night, two murder mysteries, local vendor tours, active convention support and local community events (such as public TV pledge drives). Eventually, Doctor Who made its way back in the form of audio productions with Big Finish and the 1996 American-produced TV movie. |

Today, The Milwaukee Time Lords remains a local group of people
who support intelligent and creative television. We see our
favorite show "retooled" and updated for a current online
generation with much enthusiasm. We hope to maintain our social,
"offline" club in the face of these changes, while embracing
new means to share our interests and promote quality TV and
movies. Shows like Star
Trek and Babylon 5 happened because some people
stood up and said they don't want "dumbed down" TV.
This encourages other productions such as the new Battlestar
Galactica, Torchwood and those amazing computer
animated movies we've grown to love. You can be a part of that
group that wants these and other shows to be available to future
generations. Help keep this genre alive by joining our
organization either through a membership or a subscription to our
